Newborn Session FAQs
-
Due to the time sensitive nature of newborn photography, advanced booking is advised in order to plan for the session and guarantee a spot in the studio once the baby makes their debut. Aleksandra takes a limited number of newborn sessions per “due date window”, meaning two weeks before and two weeks after a baby’s due date. This ensures each family’s session occurs while the baby is still in the best age for curled up and sleepy poses which is around 5-14 and up to 21 days old.
-
Since babies have their own agendas and there’s rarely a way to predict their arrival, Aleksandra asks that expectant mothers stay in communication with her throughout the later stages of their pregnancy. Moms can send messages letting the studio know the pregnancy is still on track or if there’s any indication that baby may make an early appearance. This allows Aleksandra to put your baby’s session on her radar so she’s able to plan accordingly.

If you’ve chosen an in-studio session, you will be welcomed in Aleksandra’s private studio located at 4214 E Indian School Rd #210, Phoenix, AZ 85018. The location is centrally located and next to a freeway for easy access. Upon arrival please enter through the front glass door marked with our logo. Aleksandra’s studio is at the second floor above Camelback Flower Shop. As of the moment, Aleksandra does not accept outdoor sessions. If you want to discuss about this further, you can contact us here.

The studio is filled with an ever evolving stock of backdrops, blankets, wraps, buckets, headbands/bows, hats, outfits, etc. to be used during your session. Everything offered in Aleksandra’s studio has been proved to photograph beautifully. Most of the options are handmade by talented designers from the US and Europe.
Occasionally, clients ask to have sentimental items incorporated in their session. This is always welcome! We will work together to achieve the best results possible. Please note, not all items will be allowed in the studio. Potentially dangerous or large items will not be permitted. -
First and foremost, try to dress in layers! The studio is warm to keep baby cozy so we will begin with family poses in order to allow you to change into something cooler for the remainder of the session. We’ve also created the Ultimate Styling Guide for Timeless Family Photos, a free guide that includes tips and inspirations on outfit coordination, color palettes, and accessories to create cohesive looks for your photo sessions. You will receive it after you have officially booked a session with us!

Babies are accustomed to being warm and cozy in their mother's womb. Warm temperatures replicate the environment they are used to and help them settle easily into curly poses during the session. Although older babies are more efficient at regulating their body temperature a newborn still needs that extra warmth and the studio will be approximately 78°F while we are shooting.
-
Babies can'tbe rushed and they are very unpredictable. The majority of our time will be spent soothing, feeding, burping, and changing your baby's diapers. Moving through the poses and allowing the time for the baby to be relaxed and comfortable is worth the wait. If you are worried about older children being bored or tired consider setting up a way for them leave with an adult after family photos.
-
It is Aleksandra’s hope that before the session you can visit the studio to preview outfits. If you feel that you’d like to bring your own outfit, wrap etc., please do so! Milk, pacifier, diapers, wipes are also suggested.
For you: Since newborn sessions are longer than most, please bring a small snack for yourself and any siblings that will be attending the session. Water and coffee is provided for you. As mentioned earlier, layers of clothing is recommended to ensure you don't become too hot in the studio.
-
All blemishes, discolorations, flakes can be edited out. Skin tones are corrected, wrinkles in fabrics are taken out etc. If a mother asks for some slimming that can also be achieved in post-processing. You can see below an example of the before and after photos.
Each booking will receive an on-line questionnaire to outline their desires and wants before the shoot. Please note that if you do not want specific things edited out, be sure to inform Aleksandra of your decision before the end of the session.
-
Because Aleksandra has an artistic approach to editing which requires time and inspiration, your images will be completed within 4 weeks from the date of your session if your selections are made within the recommended time period which is 3 days.
