Maternity Session FAQs

Due to the time sensitive nature of maternity photography, advanced booking is advised in order to plan for the session and guarantee a spot on Aleksandra’s calendar. Aleksandra takes a limited number of sessions per month to guarantee the best outcomes for each client, this means that spots fill quickly.

Once booked, we will send a questionnaire to get a better feel for your desires for the final outcome of the session. Once complete you can decide whether you will need to visit the studio to look through the studio client closet, whether you will need styling help etc. If you have any questions you can contact us through our system so that we can keep all your questions and plans in one place.

If you’ve chosen an in-studio session, you will be welcomed in Aleksandra’s private studio located at 4214 E Indian School Rd #210, Phoenix, AZ 85018. The location is centrally located and next to a freeway for easy access. Upon arrival please enter through the front glass door marked with our logo. Aleksandra’s studio is at the second floor above Camelback Flower Shop. As of the moment, Aleksandra does not accept outdoor sessions. Not at all! To make things easy, we offer all-inclusive packages that include professional hair and makeup services. Simply show up to the studio, and our trusted hair and makeup artist will take care of the rest. This ensures that your look is cohesive, polished, and camera-ready.

We’ll also be sending you our free Effortless Glam makeup guide with tutorials and inspiration. It’s a guide for everyone who books a session with us! Whether you’re availing our all-inclusive package or not, you’re still gonna be able to receive it. You can use it in doing your own makeup at home or bring it to your own artist and show them what look you’re going for.

The studio has a client closet with maternity gowns. Aleksandra suggests that if you are interested in taking advantage of the studio’s client closet, you can contact us here, come in, and see if we have what you are looking for. Aleksandra can also suggest retailers that offer higher end dresses, gowns, and other clothes and props. Everything offered in Aleksandra’s studio has been proven to photograph beautifully. Most of the options are handmade by talented designers from the US and Europe and were mostly used by the clients that you can see on my maternity portfolio.

If you choose to wear your own clothes or you’re bringing your partner and/or child, don’t worry! We’ve created the Ultimate Styling Guide for Timeless Family Photos, a free guide that includes tips and inspirations on outfit coordination, color palettes, and accessories to create cohesive looks for your photo sessions. You will receive it after you have officially booked a session with us!

If you are planning on borrowing a gown or are wanting a session with pieces that are sheer in nature. Aleksandra recommends bringing a skin-toned bra and a set of either white or black panties if you will be using clothing in those colors. If you are doing a fine art nude session, please show up wearing comfortable, loose clothing so that there’s less of a chance of garment imprints on your skin.

Skin tones and blemishes can be corrected. Wrinkles in fabrics can be taken out but please try to show up with ironed clothing as such edits will prolong the editing process and the delivery of your images. If a mother feels self conscious about any particular feature or weight gain, these things can also be addressed in post-processing. Each booking will receive a questionnaire to outline their desires and wants before the shoot. You can see the example below.

Please note that if you do not want specific things edited out, be sure to inform Aleksandra of your decision before the end of the session.

Because Aleksandra has an artistic approach to editing which requires time and inspiration, your images will be completed within 3 weeks from the date of your session if your selections are made within the recommended time period which is 3 days.
